Team Liquid edged nouns 2-1 on Wednesday to hold on to a top-four seed as the Elite League Season 2 round-robin stage came to a close in Lima, Peru.
With the victory, Team Liquid are headed to the upper bracket of the playoffs along with OG, 1win and nouns. Liquid will take on OG in the upper-bracket semifinals on Friday after the latter finished atop the round-robin standings at 6-1.
Team Liquid opened their match with nouns with a 45-minute win on green before falling in 51 minutes on green. They recovered, though, taking the decisive third game in 54 minutes while playing on red.
Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu paced Team Liquid with an average kill-death-assist ratio of 12.0/4.3/10.7.
Like OG, 1win went 6-1 in round-robin play, and both squads completed 2-0 sweeps of their respective opponents on Wednesday. OG blanked Execration, while 1win rolled past Shopify Rebellion.
OG won twice on green — in 24 minutes and 21 minutes. Both of 1win’s victories came in 27 minutes, with the first coming on red and the second coming on green.
BOOM Esports also played to a shutout on Wednesday, topping beastcoast 2-0. beastcoast finished at the bottom of the standings, going 1-6.
BOOM Esports, Shopify Rebellion, Execration and beastcoast will begin the playoffs in the lower bracket.
The playoffs are set to begin Friday with four matches:
