According to Deadline, Oscar winner Emma Stone is currently in negotiations for the leading role in Universal Pictures‘ untitled movie from producer Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine). In addition, Stone’s husband and former Saturday Night Live segment director Dave McCary is also in talks to helm the project.
This would mark McCary’s second feature directorial project following 2017’s comedy-drama Brigsby Bear. Further details about the plot and characters remain under wraps. The project is written by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin. It will be produced by Dan Cohen and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, along with Michael H. Weber.
Emma Stone’s Upcoming Projects
Coming off from her critically-acclaimed performance in Searchlight Pictures’ Poor Things, Stone already has a few projects lined up for her, including two new movies with director Yorgos Lanthimos, the anthology film Kinds of Kindness and the English remake of the 2003 South Korean dark comedy Save the Green Planet! She is also currently attached to star in Ari Aster’s black comedy Eddington, with Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix. Stone and McCary are also producing two upcoming movies this year, A Real Pain starring Jesse Eisenberg and I Saw the TV Glow starring Justice Smith.
