Midnight Meat Train and Godzilla: Final Wars director Ryuhei Kitamura is set to helm the rollercoaster thriller Thrill Ride.
Kitamura Goes on a Thrill Ride
Thrill Ride will tell the story of a group of people, including two young women, who are trapped upside down on a roller coaster taken over by a mysterious saboteur threatening to drop them all one by one to their deaths.
Production on the movie is targeting the fourth quarter of 2024 at Bulgaria’s Pro Cinema Studios. It’s being written by Chad Law and Christopher Jolley.
Producing Thrill Ride will be United Film’s Gabriel Georgiev, Ellen Wander, and Jordan Dykstra. Casting for the film is currently ongoing.
Kitamura’s most notable works are the aforementioned The Midnight Meat Train starring Bradley Cooper and Godzilla: Final Wars. But he’s also responsible for Lupin III, Doorman, starring Ruby Rose, and Luke Evans’ No One Lives.
“As a hardcore rollercoaster fan since I was young, I immediately fell in love with this script filled with suspense, action, crazy ups and downs, turns, loops, and corkscrews at maximum speed,” said Kitamura in a statement. “I can’t wait to get on a ride and bring life to the wildest rollercoaster imaginable.”
